프로젝트 스페이스, 언더 레이어(이하 PS Under Layer)는 이미정 개인전 《In the Name of Love 사랑의 이름으로》을 선보인다. 이번 전시는 ‘사랑’이라는 이름 아래 공존하는 양가적인 감정과 일상의 장면을 작가의 시선으로 재해석하며, 그 속에 존재하는 다층적 의미를 탐색해 보고자 한다.
이미정은 동시대의 미감과 유행이 만들어내는 풍경, 그리고 사회적으로 형성되는 욕망과 가치를 이미지로 번역해 ‘조립식 회화’라는 독창적 형식으로 구현해왔다. 그의 작업에서 ‘집’은 단순히 생활하는 장소의 개념을 넘어, 시대의 감각과 계층, 취향이 응축된 사회적 지표로 작용한다. 이번 전시는 세개의 층으로 나눠진 전시 공간을 ‘집’이라는 소재로 연결하여, 작가가 지속적으로 탐구해 온 주제를 새로운 서사로 조명한다. 일상의 이미지로 구현된 작품들은 삶의 이면에 감춰진 노동과 수고를 위트 있게 드러내며, 우리가 무심히 지나치는 것들에 깃든 노력과 감정의 층위를 세심히 환기한다. 이는 모두의 일상을 지탱하는 보이지 않는 노력이 결국 사랑이라는 이름으로 존재하고 있음을 보여준다.
이번 PS Under Layer의 전시를 통해 삶에서 다양한 형태로 마주할 수 있는 축적된 가치와 의미를 되새기며, 일상의 소중함을 바라보는 따뜻한 사유의 시간이 되길 바란다.
PS Under Layer presents In the Name of Love, a solo exhibition by Lee Mijung. This exhibition reinterprets the ambivalent emotions and everyday scenes that coexist under the name of “love” through the artist’s perspective, seeking to explore the multilayered meanings embedded within them.
Lee Mijung has translated the landscapes shaped by contemporary aesthetics and trends, along with socially constructed desires and values, into images realized through her distinctive format of Ready-to-assemble Painting. In her work, “home” functions not merely as a place of living but as a social indicator in which the sensibilities, class, and tastes of a particular era are condensed. This exhibition connects the three floors of the venue through the theme of “home,” casting new light on a subject the artist has consistently explored, now through a renewed narrative.The works, composed of images drawn from everyday life, wittily reveal the labor and effort hidden beneath the surface of daily routines, attentively recalling the layers of care and emotion embedded in the things we often overlook. Ultimately, they show that the unseen efforts sustaining our daily lives exist, after all, in the name of love.
Through this exhibition at PS Under Layer, we hope it becomes a warm moment of reflection, one that revisits the accumulated values and meanings encountered throughout life, and invites a renewed appreciation for the everyday.
