What’s in My Bag?

2026. 9. 2.(Wed) – 11. 22.(Sun)

프로젝트 스페이스, 언더 레이어(이하 PS Under Layer)는 세 번째 전시로 정수영 작가의 개인전 《What’s in My Bag?
ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
Project Space Under Layer (PS Under Layer) presents its third exhibition, What’s in My Bag?, a solo exhibition by Chung Sooyoung. Known for her sustained exploration of the intimate relationship between people and objects, Chung turns her attention in this exhibition to the bag—a mobile, everyday space that accompanies us through daily life. Through this familiar vessel, she captures the ways in which disparate contexts and identities naturally coexist in contemporary life.
In her previous practice, the artist has primarily investigated the home as a settled, private space where personal narratives and identities accumulate over time. If the home embodies the traces of one's lived history, the bag in this exhibition represents a far more fluid and ever-changing space that reflects life in the present moment. Tote bags, travel suitcases, shopping bags, and oversized polypropylene bags each serve different purposes and are continuously reorganized according to changing circumstances. The objects they contain reveal, with remarkable honesty, the owner's immediate needs, habits, and desires. Within these shifting assemblages, where different purposes and temporalities coexist, the artist translates into painting the ways in which the diverse relationships and narratives that shape contemporary life intersect and unfold.
Reflecting on the accumulation of daily choices and experiences, What’s in My Bag? invites viewers to reconsider the familiar objects that surround them and offers a renewed perspective on the ordinary landscapes of everyday life.
